Për një autor të vlerësuar, është gabim t’ia nisësh me romane. Problemi me romanet është që mund të shkruash për një vit dhe në fund të mos dalë gjë në dritë, pasi nuk je kalitur ende. Në vend të kësaj, krijo tregime të shkurtra me shumicë, apo miniatura të cilat, megjithëse nuk kanë cilësinë e kërkuar, mund të të ndihmojnë të praktikohesh. Unë guxoj të shkruaj 52 tregime jo të arrira. Nuk mundem. Besoj se pas kaq shumë përpjekjesh, një tregim i mrekullueshëm do të dalë me patjetër.
